What is a Day Master?
The one part of a BaZi chart that stands for you, how it is found, and why everything else is read around it.
The point the chart is read from
A BaZi chart has eight characters in four pillars. One of them, the heavenly stem of your birth day, stands for you. That is the Day Master. Every other character is read by what it does to that one: feeds it, drains it, shapes it, or keeps it company.
That is why two people born in the same year can have very different charts. The year is shared by millions of people. The day is far more personal.
How Aster finds yours
Aster converts your birth time to true solar time for your birth place, then finds the day. A birth at 11:40pm by the clock can already belong to the next day, and a wrong day means a wrong Day Master.
There are ten Day Masters: each of the five elements, in a yang and a yin form. Yang wood is a tree. Yin wood is a vine. Same element, different way of living it.
Why it matters to you
Your Day Master tells you what you run on and what wears you down. It explains why some years feel like a tailwind and others feel like a climb, because each year and each ten-year chapter meets your Day Master in its own way.
In a pair, the two Day Masters are the first line of the reading. One may feed the other, or the two may shape each other. It is the plainest way to see what each person gives and takes without either of them saying a word.
